Completion of basic training course for 15th class of SIPA inspectors

07/03/2024

Following a completion of the basic training course, 10 cadets of the State Investigation and Protection Agency have been promoted today to the rank of junior police inspector in the Agency for Education and Professional Training (AEPTM).

Marko Vujević, director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training, congratulated the cadets and thanked everyone who in any way contributed to the successful implementation of the teaching process. "The cadets put a lot of effort into the training course that started in August last year and made excellent results. With the help of their mentors at SIPA, they will use the knowledge gained here and hopefully approach their daily tasks with innovations. The job they chose is complex and demanding, and requires them to always be on the side of justice and the law, protecting the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Vujević emphasized.

Having conveyed the congratulations of Darko Ćulum, SIPA director, Zoran Galić, deputy director of SIPA thanked the director and staff of the Agency for Education and Professional Training for helping the cadets to gain the optimal level of knowledge. Only by significant investment in material and technical equipment and infrastructure, the professional development and basic training programmes, he said, the police agencies at all government levels can keep up with the application of the latest practices that come to us from EU countries.

Ivica Bošnjak, Deputy Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that it was a great honor for him to share the joy of the day with the cadets as they are entering the security system of Bosnia and Herzegovina. "You are at the beginning of your professional career. You have been given an opportunity that few get. Try to use it wisely. When I joined the police force 40 years ago, I had no idea what awaited me in my professional career. I am repeating the same to you in the era of global, unpredictable movements, the progress of IT technologies and crime that has no borders, in which a lot of money 'spins'. They use the most modern equipment, devices and methods. We, on the other side, have a whole series of limitations in terms of staffing, formal and legal obstacles, budget funds, etc. Yet, in addition to all these weaknesses, we cope very well with all forms of crime, and I can state that the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is satisfactory. So, I encourage you, dear cadets, to continue on those coordinates, to constantly study and keep up with the times. You are a generation that was born with all technological achievements. Use it to the maximum! May you be adorned with persistence, thoroughness, responsibility, discipline, professionalism and success will certainly not be lacking" - Deputy Minister of Security Ivica Bošnjak said at today's ceremony.

The basic police training for SIPA cadets (a rank of junior inspector) lasted seven months (879 teaching/working hours). It ran in three phases: theory classes and practice sessions, professional operations training and scenario-based training, and the final exam. The curriculum consists of 17 subjects: Police powers and ethics, Handling weapons and shooting skills, Criminal tactics, techniques and methods, Traffic safety, Special physical education, Physical culture and first aid, Criminal psychology, the Constitution, Criminal, Misdemeanor and Criminal procedure law, Human rights, IT and communication, English language and Police management.

The overall training achievement of this class is excellent (5). The Teaching Council of AEPTM proclaimed Ema Vrdoljak the best cadet of the generation. She thanked the teaching staff for  their great support and knowledge shared. She especially thanked the SIPA lecturers whose help and rich experience were invaluable. "The best cadet award belongs equally to all of my colleagues. In these seven months, we have become each other's second family and the biggest wind at the back of one another. The experience at this academy has been the first step towards the goals we set. We continue to walk boldly towards the ideals we believe are truly worthy. I hope that we will meet your expectations and be outstanding security protectors in the most reputable police agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina" – stated Ema Vrdoljak, who will join SIPA, along with her colleagues after taking the solemn oath in mid March.
