Second meeting of FIRST-TAC Erasmus+ project in Lithuania
21/01/2024
Last week (January 15-19, 2024), the Lithuanian Police School hosted the second live meeting of experts in tactics and techniques for using the means of coercion and tactical medicine, as part of the Erasmus+ project Development of Joint Curriculum for First Responders on the Use of Force and First Aid Tactical Procedures (FIRST-TAC), which is co-implemented by the Agency for Education and Professional Training, the Police Academy "Prvi hrvatski redarstvenik" of the Republic of Croatia, the Lithuanian Police School and the Slupsk Police School from Poland. The AEPTM participants at this meeting were: Ivan Pinjuh, head of the Specialist Training Department, Deni Jelovac, specialist training instructor, and Jurica Pranjić, a police tactics lecturer.
The meeting was dedicated to drafting the teaching preparations for several curriculum topics that were agreed upon at the meeting in Zagreb. As this was practice-focused training for developing skills in using the means of coercion and tactical medicine, the teaching preparations included a detailed description of exercises and instructions to be used by the instructors. The future training will, however, include an online preparation phase for the rehearsal of theoretical knowledge. To that end, an e-course was created on the e-learning platform of the Lithuanian Police School. At the forthcoming meeting in Poland, the materials for independent learning will be drafted.
The head of the Lithuanian Police School, Robertas Šimulevičius welcomed the participants, emphasizing that international projects of this kind bring not only specific results but also opportunities for networking and building professional relationships.
As the Erasmus+ program is about cultural exchange as well, the hosts organized a tour of one of the fortifications of the city of Kaunas, where the participants got to know about Lithuanian history from the end of the 19th to the middle of the 20th century.
The FIRST-TAC project's next meeting will be held from 12-16 February 2024 at the Police School in Slupsk, Poland.
