The cooperation with the OSCE Mission to BiH continues

25/04/2024

The Agency for Education and Professional Training (AEPTM) received today a delegation of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Ioannis Piliouris, head of the OSCE field office in Mostar.

At the beginning of the working meeting, director Marko Vujević informed the guests about the present circumstances at AEPTM i.e. the implementation of basic, professional and specialist training courses for police officers, and the extensive activities that are a prerequisite for carrying out the Agency’s basic tasks and responsibilities. Vujević thanked the OSCE Mission for donating computers, software and document forgery detection equipment. The donated equipment has already been installed and used for classroom instructions, which the guests could see during the tour of classrooms and offices.

OSCE representatives proposed to continue the cooperation with the Agency for Education and Professional Training by following its priorities. As regards document forgery detection, they suggested organizing training courses for trainers, which requires the development of a relevant curriculum.

It was also suggested that training courses in combating illicit art trade should be organized for police officers from lower government levels, as our country is an important transit area for illicit art trade, which is one of the most common types of smuggling in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This would continue the activities that the Agency for Education and Professional Training started in July 2019, when, in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Center against Art Smuggling, it organized the first training course ‘Fighting against Art Smuggling and Illegal Trade", with the accompanying publication The method of importing and exporting artworks in BiH.
