The Agency for Education and Professional Training hosted an oath – taking ceremony for 30 police inspectors of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton who solemnly swore to adhere to the Constitution and laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina and perform their tasks and duties conscientiously and responsibly. They took an oath in front of the Cantonal Interior Minister Marijo Marić, Police Commissioner Robert Perić, in the presence of MoI senior police inspectors, guests and staff from the security sector institutions, their relatives and friends.
"This event marks the beginning of a new period in your life. As the HNC police officers, you are entering a large police family and becoming part of the security system of our canton. The police tasks are demanding and complex, particularly in the era of numerous security challenges, both local and global, so you have to be prepared for lifelong learning’’ stated Police Commissioner Robert Perić and added: “You have to be ready to accept all professional challenges in order to progress and gain the necessary experience in your police careers. Be alert and responsible! Let your collegiality in the working environment be at a high level, and your attitude towards citizens at the highest level of professionalism. As police officers, we are granted a certain type of authority, but also a great responsibility to guide us in our careers during which we need to be service-minded and help others. I wish you a lot of luck and success on your new path, to wear your uniform with pride.’’
Minister Marić said that today is a new beginning for the Ministry of Internal Affairs that used to be faced with the staff shortage. "The police, as a pillar of the security of our canton and our country, continuously support their foundations by providing police officers in all lines of work, whether it is crime, public order and peace, traffic safety or increasingly challenging migrant movements," said the minister. Marić emphasized that the next 2-3 years will be among the most challenging and demanding in the recent history of the MoI, when everyone will be required to make a maximum contribution in overcoming the accumulated problems. "It is up to the MoI management to reinforce our staff, provide material and technical equipment, and it is up to you to be fully committed to the profession and serve our canton. The MoI family welcomes you with joy and great anticipation. We are moving together as a family to the future, where numerous security challenges inevitably await us. We are acting uncompromisingly, in accordance with the rules of the profession, with common sense and a warm heart. I dare to call this day, when we are proudly handing over 30 highly educated and trained young people to our canton, the first day of the new spring of our MoI" - Minister Marić concluded.
These 30 police inspectors had attended a level II basic police training at the Agency for Education and Professional Training. This has been the first staffing of the Ministry of Interior of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton since 2017, where positions could not be filled in the period 2018-2022 due to the non-appointment of the police commissioner.
The second recruitment cycle in the MoI is expected at the end of this summer, when the cadets who are currently at the Police Academy in Sarajevo will complete their basic training.
